Jobs at Common Weal

We're expanding our team so if you're looking for an exciting new role making a difference to Scotland's future, we might have just the opportunity for you!

There are two positions available now, with a start in 2022. They are both vital roles within our team but need slightly different skills and we're expecting to offer great development opportunities for both. Working in a small team allows for a lot of flexibility and can be a lot of fun.

Common Weal has offices in Glasgow and will be holding meetings and events across Scotland, but both roles offer an opportunity to work from home if that's what you're looking for. We work a four-day week (Monday to Thursday) but sometimes work outside these hours. We've got lots of exciting plans for 2022, so perhaps you can be a part of that!

Policy Coordinator

We're looking for someone who loves policy and understands how policy ideas are developed, lobbied for and made law. This is a core support role within our policy team and the person who takes this on will need great project management skills, good writing and editing skills and the ability to pull things together to meet deadlines. Working with our expert working groups as well as our own team, you can expect the occasional evening meeting, either online or face to face as things get back to "normal". This isn't a role for a specialist - our policy work covers a very broad range of issues and your enthusiasm for policy in general, rather than specific policies, is what we're looking for.

Interested? Download the job description and the application form, or email amanda@common.scot to arrange to have a chat about the role.

Networks Coordinator (community development)

We're looking for a real 'people-person' for this role - someone who's not afraid to talk to people and who can get a good conversation started. This is a core support role within our outreach team, working with supporters, donors, volunteers and local groups. You'll need great written and oral communication skills, be well-organised and able to contribute to our communications and fundraising plans with the rest of the team. Part of the job will be running events, online and off, so may require the occasional evening or weekend work. You'll also work with the team to build a new online community for our supporters. If you've done community development or fundraising, either in paid work or as a volunteer, that will be helpful.

Interested? Download the job description and the application form, or email amanda@common.scot to arrange to have a chat about the role.
