Police Officer Numbers In Scotland

Since a step change upwards in 2008, police numbers in Scotland have been gradually declining but also suffered a substantial step change downwards in 2021. This official data is current up till December 2024 but the Scottish Police Federation warns that officer headcount may now be below 16,000.
