Nationalise our trains

In most European countries the essential transport infrastructure represented by the rail network is owned by the public, for the public. But not in the UK where trains are more expensive and less reliable than their publicly-owned comparators. Common Weal published A Public Future For Scotland’s Railways to explain how this can be done. We’re very glad that the Scottish Government has now committed itself to creating exactly the kind of public railway service the report sets out.
