Not long ago we commissioned a VERY LIMITED batch of bespoke hand-made cups and coasters from South Lanarkshire ceramics artist Vivien Iona Newton (https://www.facebook.com/Earthware-771284443046293/). These hand-made pieces are a delight to own and use. The feel of the chunky and yet delicate stoneware made nesting a warm cup of tea in your hand a gorgeously comforting experience. We are all out of the cups, but we have a good number of coasters left for you.
Our coasters come in Cobalt Blue, Cereze and Blue-Green. These are chunky (11cm diameter by 0.5cm thick), beautifully glazed and perfect for protecting surfaces from hot beverage damage and furtive drips and you can buy them as sets or individually. Remember: these are limited edition pieces which are completely hand-crafted, locally produced from sustainably and locally-sourced materials… they are very special indeed.
The craftsmanship of Viv’s pieces is stunning and the process is truly hypnotic. Each piece started from a lump of clay, then it was turned into shape, stamped with our logo, fired and glazed and then fired again for a beautiful glossy finish with the most gorgeous texture and feel.
