We are delighted to bring back our gorgeous fountain pen sets this Christmas!
This year we commissioned Bruce Joyce at From The Clearing in the Scottish Borders to hand-craft a new version of our previously sold out sustainable pens. And wow, did he deliver! Not only is Bruce the nicest chap you could ever meet, but he completely embraces our environmentally conscious ethos and delivered three different sustainable wood options and laser-etched our iconic Equal Balance logo and our All Of Us First motto on the pens and presentation boxes.
Fountain pens are one of the most sustainable writing utensil alternatives out there. They can last a life time, they are refillable and all of their components are easily repairable and replaceable as most of them are made within international standards. Our pens are hand-turned from sturdy local and reclaimed wood and should last a lifetime. They are comfortable and wonderfully weighed and balanced. We have chosen a medium iridium nib and steel trims manufactured sustainably in the E.U. in your choice of gold plated or gun metal finish.
Our fountain pens come with a standard international refillable plunger ink vessel (plastic, but sturdy, durable plastic which should also work for a long time) and a 50ml glass bottle of quick drying black ink manufactured in England . We have also added a wee disposable ink cartridge as well so that things are not too intimidating for you at first if you have not used a refillable pen before. The pen comes in a lovely recycled cardboard laser-etched presentation box, so it makes an elegant and thoughtful present.
This is one of the ways in which Common Weal supports you in your personal efforts to balance climate change and make more ethical, sustainable consumer choices.
